Learn about the artistic creation of an award-winning children's book at the Driftless Fiber Arts Collective! At 6:30 on Thursday, October 2nd, celebrated children's author, Caren Stelson, will share about the making of her book, Stars of the Night: The Courageous Children of the Czech Kindertransport.
Written by Stelson and beautifully illustrated by Selina Alko, this picture book tells the true story of the 669 children who traveled from Prague to Britain on the eve of World War II to escape the rising campaign of Nazi hatred.
Stelson is preparing to celebrate the release of her latest children's book, Returning the Sword. This story of war, peace and reconciliation has a local connection: In 1945, just after the end of World War II, Captain Orval Amdahl from Lanebsoro brought home a Japanese sword as a souvenir of war. Sixty-eight years later, he gave it back. Celebrate this story at the Sons of Norway on October 5th
