Mariah Ciangiola graduated with a BFA in Musical Theater from Ithaca College and is the lead vocalist in the Rutabaga Brothers. She has traveled nationally and internationally performing a variety of musical genres from jazz, the blues, and the classics.
David Harrenstein has played in bands throughout Iowa and Minnesota since the mid-1970s. Harrenstein’s passion for diverse music is evident in his keyboard playing and vocals. He not only loves classical and operatic music, but also the blues, Motown, Outlaw Country, and Cajun music.
Craig Johnson has been the steady rhythm of many ensembles and genres in Southeast Minnesota. When he is not in the band, he also plays drums with a variety of community theater orchestras for musical theaters.
Gary Marcoux loves the blues and is Southeast Minnesota’s up-and-coming blues guitarist. By day, Marcoux is also a dentist.
John Gaddo is a versatile musician in the Rutabaga Brothers. While he began playing the congas in the band, he quickly added bass, keyboard, and even trumpet to his repertoire.
Keith Zeller is an accomplished jazz, rock, and country guitarist who plays with many groups in Southeast Minnesota. Keith has received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Mid-American Music Hall of Fame and is a member of the Iowa Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
Lee Loerch helps make the Rutabaga Brothers a true blues band through his wailing and soulful harmonica playing.
Nathan Davidson, a retired high school music teacher, puts the rock into rockin’ blues in his saxophone playing. Davidson also plays with the Lost Faculties Band and the CBB Jazz Combo.
Noah Short is an accomplished guitarist, bassist, and drummer. Through his musicianship, Short anchors the Rutabaga Brothers through his bass playing and vocals.
Phil Dybing uses Classic Concert Enhancement to enhance the Rutabaga Brother’s iconic sound. Dybing’s work allows each of the band’s notes to be heard and experienced in a personal way by the audience.
This event is made possible by the voters of Minnesota through a Minnesota State Arts Board grant, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the arts and cultural heritage fund.
