Description
Pop-up Plays Lanesboro: “Time for Women”1870-1970" is an original play by Jane Peck about notable women and suffragists in SE Minnesota. Set in 1870-1970, viewers will witness the long struggle for women’s suffrage. Meet unusual Minnesota women: the rare 1870 businesswoman, a woman doctor, a woman abolitionist and Civil war nurse, Nellie Francis- founder of our only black suffrage group, two indigenous woman activists, and Bertha Moller-MN’s only force fed suffragist. Audiences are invited to take part in a suffrage parade between the two historic scene locations. The show ends with a discussion led by League of Women Voters members. Shows at 2 pm and 4 pm on Sept. 7 and 8.
