About Us

Oakenwald Terrace is a Bed and Breakfast located in Chatfield, 20 minutes from Rochester and 23 minutes from Lanesboro. There are 6 guest suites with private bath. Guests enjoy a full breakfast in the elegant dining area and can relax in one of the parlors or enjoy time on one of the decks or porches. There is even a fun backyard patio where guests can gather around the fire pit and enjoy some conversation and a beverage in the evening. The home is on the National Historic Register, and there are lots of stories and history to share for guests who are interested. There are not regular times for tours, but most of our guests get a full look around (and an ear full).

Chatfield is a beautiful little town with multiple shops to peruse, a lovely town square park as well as a park to the west of town with walking paths, a play ground and a sports complex. The Center for the Arts provides regular opportunity to take in a show, concert, or coffee shop experience. During the summer, the local brass band has regular Thursday evening concerts in the town square park. There are multiple eateries in which to grab a bite; and if you like to bike, the bike trails are within 10 minutes.

Bob and Ruth Ann Lund are the innkeepers - Chatfield natives, both engineers by training...but do pretty well with the cooking too - come hungry! If Bob starts talking too much (and doesn't get the hint) just give Ruth Ann the nod and the elbow in his ribs takes care of it!
